By GCS Athletics

With a new school year about to begin, the Glynn County Schools athletic department is also introducing a new website.

The new site actually launched last month, but Aug. 1 was the target date to begin promoting it within the community.

Steve Waters, athletic director for the school system, sees the new site as an improved one-stop shop for coverage of Glynn County Athletics.

“We’re excited to launch the new website as part of our continued efforts to communicate more effectively with our players, parents and community and to promote our schools, their teams, coaches and players,” Waters said.

The website address remains the same. It is

The new site was built by VNN which has partnered with more than 2,000 schools across the country to promote their athletic programs on its platform. The company works with close to a hundred schools here in Georgia.

Glynn County Schools is a unique partner for VNN which normally deals with individual schools. This site was built to include all local schools including Brunswick High and Glynn Academy and the four local middle schools – Glynn Middle, Jane Macon, Needwood and Risley.

On the local site, fans will be able to look up the schedules for the athletic teams at each school including those for the varsity and sub-varsity teams at the two high schools.

Game scores and results of athletic competitions will also be updated regularly, so fans can access the site to find out final results from competitions involving their favorite schools.

The local coaches will be asked to provide their team results to the site administrators as quickly as possible after the conclusion of their games, matches, meets and competitions so those results can be posted on the site in a timely manner as well.

Also, local fans will be able to read regular content about Glynn County Athletics and its teams on the site. This content will include season and team preview articles, feature stories on teams and athletes, game previews and game recap articles and any general news items that are noteworthy to local athletics.

For instance, one of the first articles posted this week will be a softball preview story on Glynn and Brunswick which open their 2019 fast-pitch seasons this weekend.

Also throughout the upcoming fall football season, there will be a weekly mid-week football report which will include the Glynn Academy and Brunswick High Players of the Week from the previous week’s games and a look-ahead to the next Friday night game for the Pirates and Red Terrors.

Also after each game for Glynn and Brunswick, fans will be able to read a game recap that will be posted on the site late Friday night and will remain prominent in the news feed throughout the weekend.

GCS Athletics has acquired the services of former Brunswick News sports editor Kevin Price, now working as a freelance writer, to generate most of the articles that will be published on the site. Price began writing for GCS Athletics in January and covered the winter and spring sports seasons this past school year. This will be his 25th year covering high school athletics in Glynn County.

“With Kevin’s background in sports writing, he’ll be able to produce quality content on our teams and give our teams special attention throughout the school year,” Waters said.

Fans are encouraged to bookmark the GCS Athletics site and make it one of the websites they visit regularly.

All fans are also encouraged to like Glynn County Schools Athletics on Facebook and follow Glynn County Schools Athletics on Twitter. You can also sign up for alerts on you favorite local teams on the athletic website.

The weekly athletic schedules for GCS Athletics will be posted on social media as will the articles that are published on the site.
