Boys Brunswick High Football, Boys Glynn Academy Football · GA’s Grant named Offensive Player of Year, other local players make region team

Glynn Academy senior running back Nolan Grant has been named the Region 2-AAAAAA Offensive Player of the Year by the region coaches.

Grant was among the region’s superlative award winners which were announced Wednesday along with the All-Region team which was voted on by the league coaches at a region meeting.

The Glynn standout was the only one outside of the Richmond Hill camp to get one of the region’s top honors as the league champion Wildcats won the other awards. Richmond Hill running back Jalen Rouse was named the Player of the Year, junior defensive lineman Nathan Vickers was chosen as Defensive Player of the Year and head coach Matt LeZotte was named the Coach of the Year.

Several Glynn and Brunswick High players made the all-region team. The first-team selections from the Red Terrors were freshman wide receiver Jayden Drayton, senior offensive lineman Drez Wilcox, senior defensive lineman Jordan Swain, junior linebacker Miles Smith, senior safety Byron Bacon and senior kicker Chase Gabriel.

The first-team picks from the Pirates included sophomore running back Chuckobe Hill, junior tight end Xavier Bean, senior receiver Che Foy, junior offensive lineman Caleb Cook, senior defensive lineman Justin Akra, senior linebacker Ryne Buckley and senior defensive backs Devin Lafayette and Freddie Towns.

Several GA and BHS players also made the honorable-mention list. The Glynn players were junior offensive lineman Nick Demarzo , junior quarterback TJ Lewis, junior running back Caden Hutchinson, junior offensive lineman Nick Muchinson, junior defensive lineman Gage Roof, junior defensive back Jaiden Miller, junior linebacker Joseph Beckham, senior defensive lineman James Dyal and junior defensive back Jujuan Floyd.

The BHS honorable-mention players were sophomore running back Ree Simmons, senior offensive lineman Xavier Ramsey, sophomore offensive lineman Kanaya Charlton, senior quarterback Anthony Mountain, junior punter Kyle Rehberg, junior linebacker AJ Wilson, junior defensive lineman Kaleb Hampton and junior defensive back DeVante Gadson.

Brunswick faces Harrison Friday night in the second round of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs in Kennesaw while Glynn also goes on the road to play at Dacula.
