Athletics News · Glynn Academy sets cheerleading tryouts for early July

Glynn Academy cheer will host tryouts July 6-8.

In order to be complaint with current Georgia High School Association and Glynn County Covid-19 sanitation guidelines, athletes should prepare to be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Athletes will be placed in rotational groups that will remain the same throughout the tryout process. Groups will be assigned by the coaching staff and will be formed using stunting positions selected by each athlete.

The coaches will place athletes in groups as large as possible that also follow guidelines effective for the July update by GHSA. Due to the limited amount of time the coaching staff will see each athlete, athletes will be evaluated on their performance throughout the entire week. There will be no official performance time in front of a judges’ panel.

In accordance with the program’s previous tryout plan, material for the cheer, chant and dance teams will be posted online starting June 28 on Coach (Stacy) Oliver’s web page. The coaching staff will also follow the same rubric for the evaluation purposes.

Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will be posted online no later than 8 p.m. on July 8 by athlete number. Team members should plan to be at school at 2 p.m. on July 9 for uniform fittings and a team meeting.
